Rudheath parish councillors 'incensed' by Lostock energy plant bid

An aerial shot of the LSEP development
PARISH councillors in Rudheath say they are incensed at plans to ramp up capacity at the Lostock sustainable energy plant.
Time is running out for residents to have their say in LSEP Ltd s survey on the idea – which would increase the amount of waste burned at the site from 600,000 to 728,000 tonnes a year.
That is expected to lead to an increase from 276 to 434 vehicle movements a day – between 7am and 11pm – to and from the plant, which is due to open in 2023.
Much of that traffic would be expected to travel through Rudheath between the A556 at King Street and the Griffiths Road site, which will be one of three waste-processing plants in the area. ....

Opposition builds against bid to ramp up waste at Lostock site

An aerial shot of the development
CAMPAIGNERS and councillors are lining up in opposition against plans to burn more waste at the new Lostock sustainable energy plant.
LSEP Ltd, the firm which acquired the site in 2017, wants to increase the amount of waste used as fuel from 600,000 to 728,000 tonnes a year.
The company insists it will have environmental benefits by diverting more waste from landfill, but residents in the surrounding area will be faced with more lorry journeys travelling to and from the site.
Previous plans for the site suggest there would be 276 lorry movements per day, but at Monday’s Northwich Town Council meeting, Cllr Sam Naylor told members the proposal would see this increase to 434 per day. ....

Illegal rubbish dumping threatens 4WD hotspot

THE illegal dumping of rubbish at a popular Redbank Plains four-wheel driving hotspot has once again marred a young family’s day out.
Redbank Plains woman Alicia McLaren took to social media on Wednesday evening, revealing the ugly sight of garbage littered across bushland at Blackheath Rd.
“We decided after all this COVID stuff had died down, and for our own mentality, to take a little four-wheel drive trip with a friend and some of our children,” she said.
“Basically as soon as we got into the entrance, I saw a bit of rubbish, so I took a few photos but as we got further into the bush it got a lot worse.” ....
