remaining optimistic about the future of rural health
despite the lack of focus it received in yesterday’s
Budget announcement.

From the time Sue Emeny was a toddler the smell of lead, moving machinery and ink permeated her life, being the daughter of print foreman, Trevor, at the Dannevirke Evening News.
Sue said her dad worked long hours in the production of Dannevirke s daily paper and she spent time watching and learning about the business, developing a desire to become a journalist.
At age 17 she joined the company as a cadet and worked three years in that role under the guidance of local icons Warren Barton, Colin Laurie and Hap Appleton. She had to overcome incredible shyness but experience is a great teacher.

Plethora of Puhoi postcodes causing customer consternation

A Puhoi resident is at his wits’ end after trying to get to the bottom of why the village has at least five different addresses and postcodes being used for postal and courier deliveries.
Andrew Cranna-Powell of Ahuroa Road says for several years there have been an increasing number of misdirected, delayed and non-delivered items, especially couriered parcels that needed to be picked up from the Puhoi Store.
“A few years back it was common for courier parcels and mail to be addressed simply to the Puhoi Store, Puhoi and for them to reliably arrive there,” he said. “Then something changed.
