The Northern NSW Local Health District (NNSWLHD) has announced that a COVID-19 Vaccination Clinic is now open at Lismore Square shopping centre. Open from 7.30am until 4pm Monday to Friday, the clinic, which opened today, will see members of the public aged 50 and over, access the AstraZeneca COVID-19 vaccination through the clinic. NNSWLHD Chief Executive, Wayne Jones, said the clinic is an added measure to support the vaccination rollout currently underway for those who cannot access the vaccine through their usual General Practitioner. ‘By providing this vaccination clinic at such a central and accessible location, we’re making it even easier for people in the community to receive their vaccination. ....
A man has been charged with driving, drug and firearm offences following a police chase at Grafton early this morning. At around 1am officers were patrolling the South Grafton area when they detected a Holden Calais allegedly speeding on the Big River Way. When the vehicle failed to stop for police, a pursuit began and continued for more than 40km throughout several rural roads. The vehicle eventually left the road and ended in a drain off the Big River Way at Clarenza. Police approached the 37-year-old driver who failed to comply with directions. A taser was used to help bring him under arrest. ....

About 1am Monday, police officers were patrolling the South Grafton area when they saw a Holden Calais on the Big River Way allegedly driving in a dangerous manner. Police attempted to stop the driver. However, it failed to stop and police started a pursuit. The pursuit continued for more than 40km along several rural roads before the vehicle left the road and ended in a drain off the Big River Way at Clarenza. Officers approached the driver – a 37-year-old man – where he allegedly refused to comply with directions. ....
Date Time Telestroke will boost access to stroke treatment in NSW Stroke Foundation welcomes the announcement of the New South Wales (NSW) Telestroke Service expansion into Grafton, saying it transform emergency stroke treatment in the northern NSW region. Grafton Base Hospital is among up to 23 rural and regional NSW hospitals that are due to be included in the service’s roll out. The NSW Telestroke Service, coordinated by the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney, speeds up diagnosis and supports regional clinicians in deciding the best care for the patient. This may include blood clot dissolving treatment or urgent transfer to a specialist stroke unit for more complex treatment. ....

On Wednesday March 17, 2021, Intensive Care Nurse Rachel Benson and Infectious Diseases Registrar Dr David Stephenson received their first of two COVID-19 vaccinations. Ms Benson and Dr Stephenson both worked on the first COVID-19 positive patients admitted to Lismore Base Hospital in 2020. ....
