Some of Melbourne’s most popular parks and reserves, including the Royal Botanic Gardens at Cranbourne and Melbourne are getting funding to upgrade facilities, ensuring they stay great places to visit for Victorians and tourists.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio announced $14.22 million from the Parks and Reserves Trust to help maintain and improve facilities at parks and reserves.
The coronavirus pandemic has made the state’s parks and open spaces even more important to Victorians and the upgrades will ensure they remain beautiful havens for people to visit.
Cranbourne Botanic Gardens will have access to improved attractions including the garden’s entry, Visitor Centre and the second stage of the Woodland Picnic Area and Biodiversity learning hub. ....

Dog Parks Get Bark Of Approval In City's South East

Melburnians and their four-legged friends in the south eastern suburbs are celebrating the opening of two new off-leash dog parks in Carrum Downs and Cranbourne East.
Minister for Energy, Environment and Climate Change Lily D’Ambrosio today officially opened Sandfield Reserve Dog Park in Carrum Downs and Casey Fields Dog Park in Cranbourne East.
The Andrews Labor Government is delivering more than 30 dog parks across Victoria, with many expected to be completed before the year’s end.
Casey Fields Dog Park is the first of 15 to open under the Victorian Government’s Suburban Parks Program, $5 million of which is dedicated to new spaces for canine friends. ....

Further Road Safety Boost For Thompsons Road

The Andrews Labor Government has delivered new flexible safety barriers, creating a more reliable journey for thousands of drivers travelling along a major road in Melbourne’s south east.
Minister for Roads and Road Safety Ben Carroll said works to install life-saving barriers along Thompson Road between the Mornington Peninsula Freeway and Narre Warren Road builds on improvements delivered last year through the Labor Government’s Thompsons Road Upgrade.
While roadside barriers were already in place along some road sections, new barriers have been installed on the centre median and left-hand side will provide a safer journey by reducing the risk of head-on and run-off-road crashes. ....

Land For A New Ambulance Station In Clyde North Secured

Residents in the growing suburb of Clyde North will have a new ambulance station for the extra paramedics already hard at work providing high quality care, thanks to the Andrews Labor Government.
Parliamentary Secretary for Health Steve McGhie and Member for Bass Jordan Crugnale today announced that, after an extensive search, land for the Clyde North Ambulance Station has been secured at 69 Matterhorn Drive, Clyde North.
Planning for a state-of-the-art designed and equipped facility has begun and is expected to be completed by the end of 2022. The station builds on the areas new Peak Period Unit already delivered by the Labor Government – providing an additional eight paramedics and operating seven days a week. ....
