Grantville seawall up for repairs

Date Time
Grantville seawall up for repairs
The seawall at the end of Pier Road in Grantville is being renewed as part of Bass Coast Shire Council’s Capital Works Program.
Construction works have begun, with the project expected to take around seven weeks to complete, subject to weather, tides and contractor availability. This $120,000 project is fully funded by Council.
These works are being carried out as the existing concrete seawall is ageing and over time, has suffered damage from wave action.
The seawall offers protection from wave erosion to important public assets, including the nearby foreshore picnic and barbecue area, grassed open space and public car parking. ....

GRANDVILLE, Mich. — The moment is still settling in for Heather Niemeyer and Jenny Steketee.
“It’s all like, surreal,” said Steketee. “That dream-come-true fairy tale.”
The two glided alongside their children Friday at the Tarry Hall Roller Skating Rink in Grandville just hours after they, alongside their husbands, purchased it.
“It doesn’t feel really real quite yet,” said Niemeyer. “We wanted to continue to bring our kids here and have some place to go and something fun to do.”
Tarry Hall originally opened in 1959.
“So many people have an attachment to this place,” said Niemeyer. “Memories growing up here, bringing their families here.” ....

New Owners Will Keep Beloved 60-Year-Old West MI Skating Rink Open

New Owners Will Keep Beloved 60-Year-Old West MI Skating Rink Open
Tarry Hall Roller Skating Rink in Grandville will live on!
First opening at 3330 Fairlanes Ave in 1959, the family entertainment center was put up for sale in December, and folks worried that would mean the end for Tarry Hall.
However, the new owners plan to continue operating the beloved rink, rather than converting it to an antique mall, storage warehouse, church, or fitness center offers they say were on the table.
In a Facebook post, the new owners share that they have a long history with the rink. Jenny Steketee has been a manager at Tarry Hall for 17 years. She first met her husband BJ there when they were kids competing on the speed team and even skated there on their wedding day! She and BJ now coach the Wolverines Speed Skating team and three of their children work at Tarry Hall. ....
