North Scale Community Centre on Walney which was victim to vandalism installs CCTV to catch criminals

Security has been beefed up at a community centre on Walney following a spate of vandalism.
North Scale Community Centre was the victim of spray paint graffiti and criminal damage back in January and volunteers involved with the centre have been hard at work trying to ramp up security at the site to avoid future issues.
Councillor Des Barlow has worked with other committee members to bring six cameras to the area, which covers the community centre, a playground and a bowling green.
“There are two warning signs up so people can see them coming in,” he said.

'We cannot let this escalate': More mysterious graffiti symbols reported at North Scale on Walney

A councillor who complained about vandalism at a community centre on Walney has discovered the same graffiti has appeared on other properties in the area.
The letters NGAB have been sprayed in multiple areas across North Scale on Walney and Councillor Des Barlow has said he wants to take action to stop the situation escalating.

A COMMUNITY leader has warned that he may shut a publicly owned centre after a spate of vandalism has undone thousands of pounds worth of improvements.
Cllr Des Barlow, who has been involved in the North Scale Community Centre on Walney for more than 30 years, has begun to question whether it has all been worth it after vandals spray-painted the letters NGAB on shutters.

I am just getting sick of this; I am fed up with them doing this. I have put many years of my life into the community centre. We have just put in new panels and painted the building and they have scarred that new paint. I just don t see the point in doing it. ....
