Kinston/Jones Free Press (kfp) Rahmel Gray, 20, of Pink Hill, NC and Tysheek Gray, 22, also of Pink Hill are facing charges in connection to an alleged shooting on College Street in Kinston on Thursday. Warrants were taken out Friday for shooting into an occupied dwelling and possession of a firearm by a felon, according to a news release. Officers responded to a call of shots fired in the area of college street and they discovered shell cases on the 900 block of College Street. Rahmel Gray was taken into custody at his residence with the assistance of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Department on Friday but at this time, officers have been unable to locate Tysheek Gray. ....
Kinston/Jones Free Press (kfp) Ja Quan Sutton, 22, of Kinston was charged with obstruction of justice charges related to multiple calls of shots fired in Kinston Thursday afternoon. Officers arrived in the area of Charlotte Ave and Dixon street and located several shell casings in the roadway but no injuries or property damage was reported, according to a news release. The Kinston Police Department places the highest priority on investigating crimes of violence perpetrated in our city. We will investigate such cases with no compromise for crime, and continue to seek assistance from the community we proudly serve. An early morning shooting Sunday resulted in one fatality and another in the hospital. Around 3:33 a.m., Kinston Police responded to the area of 2210 Old Snow Hill Road to reports of shots fired. While officers arrived they were advised that two gunshot victims had shown up at UNC Lenoir, according to a news release. Officers arrived at UNC Lenoir and found emergency personnel actively working on both individuals. The first victim, identified as Jerome Gadson, age 36 of Kinston, NC died as a result of his injuries. The second victim, a 36-year-old male was later transported to Vidant Medical Center in Greenville for his injuries, according to the release. ....
A Craven County Sheriff s deputy was involved in a high-speed chase overnight that covered three counties and resulted in one arrest of a Lenoir county man. According to the sheriff’s office, a deputy observed Walter Frank Ingram Jr., driving a car with an expired license plate and no insurance on Glenburnie Road at about 11 p.m. When the deputy attempted to initiate a traffic stop the vehicle instead exited onto US Highway 70 west while throwing objects from his vehicle. Deputies recovered approximately 80 individual packets containing crack and powder cocaine. The vehicle continued west on 70 at speeds in excess of 100 mph, pursued by Craven deputies. Ingram led officers through craven and Jones County, then into Lenoir where troopers with the North Carolina Highway Patrol deployed stop sticks, partially disabling the vehicle. ....
