I guess they learned nothing from the premature openings during the summer. There still are way too many cases now, and not enough folks have been vaccinated yet. But if everything keeps progressing the way they are, we might be able to eschew masks in four to six weeks. Hoping most of us will hang on and continue to stay safe for that short time. The CDC and COVID Task Force reiterated (Monday) the need to keep our feet on the gas, especially since we don’t have enough data on the variants that are ravaging Europe now. ....

News of the pop-up sites emerged last month when email leaks from county officials showed that emphasis had been placed on providing wealthier, Republican-held communities such as Manatee and Charlotte counties before other communities in the state.
