SRINAGAR: Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee chief Ghulam Ahmad Mir’s son, Naseer Mir has lost from Verinag District Development Council seat against a party dissident Peer Shahbaz Ahmad who was fighting as an independent.

Peer was thrown out of the Congress ahead of the DDC polls as he was demanding a ticket from the segment.
Peer secured around 4734 votes while Naseer got 4095 votes.
After winning, Peer said, “I have defeated Congress President’s son. He needs to go back to his own area now.”
Naseer’s father is a several times lawmaker from Dooru assembly segment along with being a cabinet minister in the Omar Abdullah led coalition government. ....
