Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bangladesh on March 26 and 27, according to an official news release.
The long-planned visit, the first by PM Modi abroad since the Covid epidemic, is in connection with the commemoration of three events - Mujib Borsho (the birth centenary of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman); 50 years of the establishment of diplomatic ties between India and Bangladesh; and 50 years of Bangladesh’s war of liberation.
PM Modi had last visited Bangladesh in 2015.
Both sides have put their differences regarding CAA\NRC on the back-burner to focus on connectivity and transit projects. While the BJP is silent on CAA in Assam, it has so far soft-peddled the issue in West Bengal in view of the PM s upcoming visit to Dhaka. ....
