Efforts underway to popularise mushroom cultivation: Razzaque

Agriculture Minister Dr. Muhammad Abdur Razzaque said a development project is going to be launched to expand mushroom cultivation across the country.
“The potential for cash crop mushroom cultivation in the country is much higher. This possibility must be utilized to the maximum,” said the minister at a views exchange meeting as the chief guest on Sunday.
He said, “improved varieties and cultivation techniques of mushrooms have already been invented. Now there is a need to rapidly expand and popularise it at the farmer and entrepreneurial level. The work is underway to adopt a development project.”

Earlier the director was informed about the progress on the implementation and expenditure under different centrally sponsored schemes during the year 2020-21.
The Director asked the participants to aware the farmers of far-flung areas about the latest farmer centric technology related to the development of the agriculture sector.
He exhorted them to evolve farmer friendly schemes, new concepts and innovations by adopting new cropping systems in the potential areas so that the production could be enhanced.
He asked the officers to work in coordination with the representatives of District Development Councils, Panchayats and Block Development Councils so that the programmes and schemes could reach the grass roots level in a more effective, positive manner to boost the rural economy.

Principal Secretary, while speaking on the occasion, stressed on framing three year vision of seed procurement for increasing the production of crops in Jammu and Kashmir. He emphasized formulation of broad guidelines for procurement of seeds. He directed for quality check and testing of seeds before distribution among farmers besides asking the concerned for seed procurement from certified suppliers like National Seed Corporation.
Navin asked the officers to optimally channelise their resources for promotion of cash crops cultivation including vegetables, medicinal plants, spices, chilli, potato seed and cumin. He directed for employing proper technical strategy to ensure quality seed supply from reliable agencies.

JAMMU, Feb 17: Director Agriculture Production & Farmers Welfare Department Jammu, Inder Jeet chaired a virtual meeting of the officers of the department to review the progress regarding implementation of various farmers’ welfare schemes and programmes.
The physical and financial components under Centrally Sponsored Schemes and CAPEX Budget in all the districts for the financial year 2020-21 were discussed threadbare in the meeting.
Director Agriculture impressed upon the officers to create massive awareness regarding various ongoing farmers’ welfare schemes at grass root level. He took detailed review of status and progress of Atam Nirbhar Bharat, Agri-Infrastructure Development Fund, PM-FME, KCC, PM-KISAN, Formation of FPOs, Formulation of new projects under NABARD, Mushroom, Apiculture, Organic Clusters, Farm Mechanizat
