Sounders FC loans midfielder Shandon Hopeau to San Antonio FC

SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that it has loaned midfielder Shandon Hopeau to USL Championship side San Antonio FC for the 2021 campaign. Hopeau, a Sounders FC Academy and Tacoma Defiance product, has 80 career appearances for Tacoma and eight for Sounders FC.
“Shandon is a talented young player who has been in our development system for a number of years now,” said Sounders FC General Manager & President of Soccer Garth Lagerwey. “Loaning him to San Antonio allows him better opportunity for meaningful playing time in a different environment, and we look forward to seeing how he performs this season.” ....

Sounders FC announces contract extensions for assistant coaches


SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that its assistant coaches have all been signed to contract extensions heading into the 2021 MLS season. Assistant Coaches Gonzalo Pineda, Preki and Djimi Traore, in addition to Club Director of Goalkeeping Tom Dutra and High Performance Director & Technical Advisor Adam Owen are all set to return, as Seattle is able to keep its entire coaching staff intact following its fourth MLS Cup appearance in five years in 2020.

Wade Webber named Tacoma Defiance Head Coach


TACOMA, WASH. – Sounders FC today announced that Wade Webber has been named Tacoma Defiance Head Coach, replacing Chris Little, who was hired as an Assistant Coach for the Colorado Rapids earlier today. Webber, a longtime Sounders player from the USL era, has spent the last three seasons as an Assistant Coach for Tacoma. Webber has an extensive youth coaching history in Western Washington. Additionally, Sounders FC U-17 Head Coach Mike Morris and Sounders FC Academy & USL Goalkeeper Coach Josh Ford move full-time to the Defiance staff as Assistant Coaches.

Jordan Morris scheduled to return stateside to prepare for surgery


SEATTLE, WASH. – Sounders FC forward Jordan Morris, currently on loan with Welsh side Swansea City, suffered a knee injury on Saturday in an English Championship match against Huddersfield Town. Following Swansea City ruling him out for the remainder of the season, Morris is set to return stateside to prepare for surgery with Dr. Bert Mandelbaum in Santa Monica, California.
“First and foremost, we have been in touch with Jordan and he has our full support during this difficult time for him and his family.
