TfL launches feasibility work for cross-river rail extension to Thamesmead

£1m funding deal inked with London boroughs to extend Docklands Light Railway
Transport for London (TfL) has begun feasibility work on a proposed extension of the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) across the river Thames to link up with thousands of planned homes at Thamesmead in Greenwich.
A £1m deal to fund the work has been inked between the boroughs of Greenwich and Newham and Thamesmead Waterfront, the JV between Peabody and Lendlease which is developing the huge £8bn scheme to build at least 11,500 homes on a 250-acre riverside site in south east London.
The route will link Gallions Reach near London City airport with Thamesmead via Beckton Riverside ....

TfL planning expansion of DLR services to Thamesmead

Transport for London has begun work exploring the feasibility of extending the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) to Beckton Riverside and Thamesmead.
The work will assess the impact of extending the DLR from Gallions Reach in Newham, including the creation of two new stations in Beckton Riverside and south of the river in Thamesmead.

TfL has claimed that extending the line to Thamesmead could also pave the way for up to 25,000 new homes to be built along the route as well as other transport options including a rapid bus corridor and cycling links. ....
