Galion Public Library to offer free COVID-19 home test kits beginning March 17 Staff Report GALION The Galion Public Library, in partnership with the Galion City Health Department and the Ohio Department of Health, will have the BinaxNOW COVID-19 Ag Card Test, a COVID-19 rapid at-home test kit, available for free to the community. Test kits will be available for contactless pickup at the Galion Public Library, located at 123 North Market Street in Galion beginning Wednesday, March 17, and available anytime 9:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays. Individuals seeking test kits will need to call 419-468-3203 and a library staff member will collect name, date of birth, and contact information then bring your testing kits and materials to you via curbside service. COVID-19 fatalities in Ohio: Number almost equals Bucyrus population

BUCYRUS - At some point in the next week or two, the number of COVID-19 deaths in Ohio will exceed the total population of Bucyrus. As of 2 p.m. Monday, Ohio s death toll from COVID-19 stood at 11,230, according to the Ohio Department of Health s website.  That s nearing 11,764 Bucyrus total population as of July 2019, the most recent figure available from the U.S. Census Bureau website. That really brings it into focus as to how serious it is losing a town the size of Bucyrus to COVID, Bucyrus Mayor Jeff Reser said. I was at a funeral . for former councilman Bobby Carter, and in the sermon, the pastor said this was his 16th COVID funeral. That’s 16 people that, you know, they may have had health issues, but they weren’t ready to die.

The proclamation aims to recognize the tireless efforts of Galion City Schools staff, students, and families who have made the 2020-2021 school year possible. “We are extremely proud of all our district staff for their dedication to our students’ educational, emotional, and social needs during this pandemic,” Board of Education President Grant Garverick said. “We also need to recognize our students and their families for going above and beyond, and for their unwavering support for the district during these challenging times.”
