Hasheesh from ball boy to Pakistan’s top junior player Sports February 3, 2021 KARACHI: Sindh’s Hasheesh Kumar has become the country’s top junior tennis player and he is not going to the United States. Unlike other top players produced by Sindh in recent years who went abroad after getting scholarships, he will stay in the country and so is a long term prospect for the country. Hasheesh started his tennis journey as a ball boy at Defence Authority Club. Seeing his passion for tennis, his mother contacted Sindh Tennis Association (STA) and asked for financial support so that he could pursue his dream of becoming a tennis player. ....
KARACHI: Pakistan is to have two International Tennis Federation (ITF) Level-1 referees next year. This was revealed by Shehzad Alvi, who is a white badge referee, while speaking at a 2-day ITF Officiating Workshop that concluded here on Thursday. âWe have selected two referees from Lahore and now they will be sent to any regional country next year to become ITF Level-1 referees,â said Shehzad. He added that this will be a good sign for Pakistan as the country does not have many international level referees. âSadly, people here donât take up officiating as a profession due to its not-so-good prospects. Financial constraints are a reason behind this low interest in officiating,â reasoned Shehzad. ....
