Massachusetts legislature passes climate policy bill Community Content Dean of the Massachusetts Senate and Founding Chair of Senate’s Committee on Global Warming and Climate Change Marc R. Pacheco, D-Taunton, announced that the Massachusetts legislature passed an act creating a next-generation roadmap for Massachusetts climate policy (S. 9) Jan. 28. Pacheco cosponsored the bill. The legislation, a refile of an identical version which passed the House and Senate last session but was pocket vetoed by Gov. Baker, sets a net-zero target for carbon emissions by 2050 and interim emissions limits for 2030 and 2040, a baseline provision that Pacheco authored in the original version of the legislation. It also provides the executive branch with a number of tools to achieve the net-zero by 2050 limit. ....
