One, three-year seat and two, one-year seats are up for grabs, and only one incumbent, Stefan Golec, is seeking another term. Four of the seven candidates are running for more than one seat since there is a three-year and two one-year seats available, trying to improve their odds of landing any seat on the board. Running for the three-year seat are Golec, 53, Bonnie North, 73, Cass Wright, 66, Deb Wright, 63, and Jonathan Wright, 45, all of Bellows Falls. ....

WESTMINSTER WEST â The Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association plans to buy 615 undeveloped acres in three Windham County towns in order to protect the views from its hiking trails, as well as protect wildlife ranging from wood turtles to herons to bear and moose. The organization hopes to close on the purchase of land from the heirs of longtime Westminster West resident Edwin âJimâ Massey by the end of the month, according to Libby Mills, a board member of the association. Massey died in 2017 in Westminster West at age 77. Mills said the Massey land had been on the associationâs radar for years. ....

DUMMERSTON â A section of the Missing Links trail project connecting Dummerston and Putney is now open to the public and being celebrated as an achievement of a longtime goal. Richard Fletcher, board member of the Putney Mountain Association who was in charge of the work crew for the project, said a trail committee in Dummerston tried to get easements 25 or 30 years ago. âWeâve been able to find people who were willing to do that,â he said. The new Dummerston trail is part of âa long-held dreamâ of connecting Prospect Hill to the extended trail system of Putney Mountain Association and the Windmill Hill Pinnacle Association, according to a news release. The announcement came in a news release from the PMA and Vermont Land Trust. ....
