Floods, mud, accidents in another day of heavy rain
Heavy rains fell across the Bay Area and beyond, creating havoc on the roads and leading to some evacuations.
The storm struck the entire Bay Area and beyond. But it seemed to let most of its anger out on Monterey County.
Heavy rains saw the Carmel River Lagoon start rising. By 9:00 a.m. Thursday, the sheriff s department issued an evacuation order for about 2,500 people in the area.
Deputies went door to door in the Mission Fields neighborhood of Unincorporated Carmel.

Monterey County issued an evacuation order Thursday morning for the Carmel River Lagoon area. That order was lifted later in the day. On Tuesday, an evacuation order was annouced for those living within and two miles down slope of the Dolan Fire burn scar. Late Tuesday, an evacuation order was issued for those living within and two miles down slope of the Carmel and River fire burn scars. As of Friday morning, evacuation orders for the areas surrounding the Carmel, River and Dolan fire burn scars remain in place.

A mostly dry weekend will give way to more rain early next week, with most of the Bay Area set to receive about half an inch of rain by the end of Monday.
Several inches are expected to fall on the North Bay and South Bay mountains, the National Weather Service said. ....
