The potent new V8 supercharged engine is available in both 90 and 110 body designs, and also in an exclusive new Defender V8 Carpathian Edition.

Remember those days when the Land Rover Defender was laughed at for being one of the slowest vehicles on the road? Well now it s been turned into one of the quickest, courtesy of the fitment of a potent new engine. Land Rover on Thursday announced that its new flagship Defender 90 and 110 V8 models come armed with a burly 5.0-litre supercharged V8 motor that produces 386kW and a whopping 625Nm worth of torque. ....

Launched in September 2019 at the Frankfurt Motor Show, the new Defender had some big shoes to fill since its predecessor is widely regarded as one of the best-off roaders of all time.
Other than the name, it shares nothing with the legendary model. Land Rover dropped the body-on-frame construction in favor of a modern, aluminum unibody, and the whole vehicle looks and feels much more upscale.
For the new model year, the Defender will be receiving its first major upgrade. Both the three-door 90 and the five-door 110 versions will be available with a highly capable supercharged V8. ....

Land Rover Defenders get heavy-duty V8 upgrades touted as fastest of their kind

It’s not just about the power, though, as Land Rover has upgraded the inside as well. Wireless charging is now available, as is a larger infotainment touchscreen. The seats are leather trimmed and bear an Ebony Windsor tag. The four-spoke steering wheel is enhanced by an Alcantara rim and satin-chrome gearshift paddles, which are unique to V8 models. Leather covers the airbag housing and gear lever, while illuminated treadplates are finished off with a V8 script.

One V8 of the 1970s, the US specification models of the 1990s, and the Defender Works V8. Like the launch version of the Defender, these new 90 and 110 models are available with petrol, diesel and hybrid engines. ....
