Buddock Vean Hotel raises thousands for Cornish communities

An award-winning Cornish hotel has raised a substantial amount of money for Cornish communities with its latest fundraising efforts.
The Budock Vean, the multi-award-winning country house hotel that has scooped up numerous awards this year, has awarded its charity of choice, Cornwall Community Foundation (CCF), the results of its fundraising efforts over the last year.
Budock Vean’s owner Martin Barlow, recently presented a cheque £4,093 for the last year to the Foundation’s Philanthropy Director, Amy Buzza-Blackwell.
The money raised was the result of the Hotel guest donation scheme where guests are invited to make an optional donation at check out, the proceeds of a Gin and Jazz evening hosted by the Hotel prior to lockdown and an annual donation by the Budock Vean Hotel to support the grant-making of the CCF Business Club. ....

Get an Origami Sunflower Home Pack from Naomi Hannam in Falmouth

The Sunflower Project is the brainchild of community artist and grower Naomi Hannam.
She is the founder of Creative Roots, which runs bespoke craft workshops in ink making, weaving, natural dying, foraging and drawing in nature.
However, when all her workshops and teaching sessions were cancelled during the first lockdown, Naomi found work on an organic farm and began dreaming of the day when she could gather some of the sunflowers grown there and share them.
Last summer she sold and gave away hundreds of bunches of flowers, enjoying seeing the joy they brought to the people she met.
Not content to leave it there though, she has now developed a project with the ambition to connect communities to one another and spread the joy of growing sunflowers. ....

Falmouth police and Sea Sanctuary mental health support in Cornwall award

A police team credited with saving the lives of many people struggling with mental health issues has been honoured for its work.
Operating on Fridays in Falmouth, the G999 Team are secondary responders to any police job that has a mental health element to it, which releases regular police officers to go to other jobs.
The team has helped more than 70 people in need of immediate support, with the jobs that the responders attend often being severe and potentially life-threatening situations.
Now the G999 Team has been honoured with the Chief Constable’s Innovation in Policing Award for its work with a nearby charity. ....
