HOUSTON A woman is claiming she slipped and fell backwards on water that was on the floor while shopping at Fiesta Mart and suffered serious injuries. Invonne Hernandez filed a complaint April 27 in Harris County District Court against Fiesta Mart LLC alleging premises liability. Hernandez alleges in her complaint that while at the Fiesta Mart on May 31, 2019, she slipped and fell on water that was on the floor near the fruit aisle. She claims she fell backwards and landed on her buttocks and back. Hernandez further claims that as a result of the fall, she suffered serious injuries and had to seek the care of medical professionals. She alleges Fiesta Mart s negligence in failing to monitor the condition of the floor and to properly clean the floor. ....
HOUSTON A Harris County man claims a Cadillac dealership accepted his downpayment for a custom vehicle and then sold the car to another customer. Ali Mokaram filed a complaint April 28 in Harris County District Court against GPI TX-HGM Inc., doing business as Sterling McCall Cadillac, Group 1 Automotive, David Taylor Motors Inc., and Jessie Ledet alleging violation of the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices-Consumer Protection Act and fraud. According to his complaint, Mokaram made a down payment to the defendants for a custom Cadillac Escalade on July 13, 2020. He alleges that he was later notified by the defendants that the specific vehicle he ordered had been sold. Mokaram claims the current market value for the vehicle is in excess of its MSRP and that the defendants sold the vehicle for a greater value then what was offered to him. ....
