Feb 14, 2021 2:33 PM FORT PIERRE – Elliot Leif had his second hat trick and five-point game of the weekend Sunday as the Oahe Capitals remained unbeaten in regulation games this season with an 8-0 shutout of Sioux Center at the Expo Center. Leif had also scored three goals and two assists Friday in a 7-3 win over Aberdeen. Andrew Gordon scored twice Sunday for Oahe (14-0-0-1). Raef Briggs, Keenan Howard and Dre Berndt also scored. Carter Schulz had his first shutout of the season and fifth of his career with 21 saves in goal. The Capitals will play the Rushmore Thunder Saturday in Rapid City, then host Brookings Sunday at the Expo Center. ....
Pierre, SD, USA / DRGNews Feb 7, 2021 1:15 PM SIOUX FALLS – Jaden Flor scored in the last minute of the second period Sunday to break a tie and the Oahe Capitals earned their 11th win in 12 games this season with a 3-1 win over Sioux Falls Flyers 1 at Furniture Mart Arena. Raef Briggs had tied the game 4:19 into the second period after Sioux Falls 1 had scored first nearly three minutes earlier. A Keenan Howard powerplay goal with 3:17 left in the third period gave the Capitals (11-0-0-1) their final margin. Elliot Leif scored two assists. Carter Schulz made 28 saves. Oahe will return home for three games next weekend at the Expo Center in Fort Pierre. The Capitals will host Aberdeen at 8:00 PM on Friday and Sioux Center at 7:00 PM Saturday and noon Sunday. ....

Logan Bortnem’s power play goal ended nearly 35 minutes of scoreless hockey 41 seconds into the third period and put Brookings in the lead. Raef Briggs’ 16th goal of the season, a shorthanded tally with 8:05 left tied the game at 1 for Oahe (9-0-0-1) and was just the fifth goal Brookings has allowed in nine games. Carter Schulz made 28 saves for the Capitals. Next weekend, the Capitals will play on back-to-back days in Sioux Falls. They will face Sioux Falls Flyers 2 on Saturday night and Sioux Falls Flyers 1 on Sunday morning. ....
