May 10th, 2021 ― Doha: The foreign representation missions of Qatar Red Crescent Society (QRCS) have implemented the Ramadan Iftar, Zakat-ul-Fitr, and Eid Clothing projects in several countries during the holy month of Ramadan.
These activities are part of QRCS’s Ramadan Campaign 1442 A.H., under the theme of “Race to All That Is Good”. All necessary preventive measures were taken to ensure the safety of the recipients, including masks and social distancing.
In cooperation with the Afghan Red Crescent Society (ARCS), QRCS provided food aid in the provinces of Bamyan, Faryab, Kabul, and Paktika, in order to improve food security rates for the poorest, neediest, and most conflict- and disaster-affected populations. ....

Japan contributes US$4.22m to help stabilize communities in Sudan

KHARTOUM: In line with the priorities of Sudan’s Transitional Government and the mandate of the UN Integrated Transitional Assistance Mission in Sudan (UNITAMS), the Government of Japan has committed an additional $4.22m towards UNDP’s peace, stability, and economic recovery efforts, which will assist 45,000 vulnerable people across seven states.
Japanese Ambassador H.E. Mr. Takashi Hattori outlined the new priorities, which will assist 15 of Sudan’s most at-risk localities in Blue Nile, White Nile, South Kordofan, West Kordofan, North Kordofan, Sennar and Khartoum State.
“It is imperative not only to fulfil the urgent needs of these people, but also provide underlying foundations to increase the sustainability of their lives by enhancing productivity and skills”, said the Ambassador of Japan. ....

Khartoum: The Embassy of the State of Qatar in the Republic of Sudan launched a Ramadan Iftar project in Khartoum, on the initiative and with the support of the Qatar Fund for Development. The project was launched in the presence of Acting Charge d Affaires of the Embassy of the State of Qatar in Sudan Talal Farhan Al Anzi.
Ramadan Iftar baskets were distributed to poor families and groups of society in different areas in Khartoum State.
The Ramadan Iftar program is part of the annual programs that the State of Qatar has been implementing during the blessed month of Ramadan to help the needy and a complement to the humanitarian aid provided as part of its humanitarian duty to which it is committed. ....

The Sudanese health authorities have called on members of the public who fall into ‘high-risk’ categories, to report to the nearest vaccination centre. This includes medical personnel, seniors over 60, and people from 45 to 59 who have underlying chronic health conditions.
During a meeting of the State Emergency Committee yesterday, the Ministry of Health announced the registration of 53 new cases of COVID-19 and 73 recoveries on Monday, while no new deaths were recorded. In its epidemiological report, the Ministry said that cases have spread in Khartoum, El Gezira, and Kassala. The total number of cases rose to 33, 104 deaths 2, 349 and recoveries to 26, 795. Of the new cases, 33 were registered in Khartoum. ....
