The events in a supermarket car park were witnessed by an off-duty garda and CCTV was shown in court. Daniel Harty, 29 College Avenue, Callan Road, Kilkenny, contested the charge before Kilkenny District Court. Garda John Moloney gave evidence that he had come out of the SuperValu in Callan, at approximately 9pm on April 3, 2020, and was walking into the car park behind the store, when his attention was drawn to two vehicles. ....

Stephen Hannon, 33, whose address was given as 12 Anne Street, Prosperous, faces an allegation of assault at Brookes Mill, Prosperous, on March 2. Garda Moloney told the court that when the gardai arrived at the scene an assault had taken place and the suspect had blood on his pants. The injured party had been taken to hospital. Sgt Jim Kelly claimed that the defendant and injured party are known to each other. Solicitor Tim Kennelly said the defendant disputes the evidence. ....

Daniel Philips, 31, who has an address at Crecora Avenue, Ballinacurra Weston had pleaded guilty to possession of the gun and 88 rounds of ammunition on March 26, 2020. They were located at Shelbourne Park, Ennis Road after gardai retrieved a package which was thrown from a car during a high speed pursuit. Imposing a four year prison sentence, Judge Tom O’Donnell said what happened was very serious and said the nature of the pursuit was an aggravating factor. ....
