An expected entry of 15 boats will contest the title as part of the new format One Design weekend for VDLR 2021 from July (2nd – 4th July 2021) specifically tailored for sailors in the one-design keelboat and dinghy classes. The quarter-ton class which celebrated its 48th birthday this season is expected to see Ruffians from Skerries, Greystones & Wicklow and possibly Carrickfergus in Northern Ireland and Poolbeg compete. ....
Just over 12 months after taking over the helm as admiral of the Royal Cork Yacht Club, Alan R Morehead has been honoured with one of Cork s most prestigious accolades. Despite what had been a disappointing year for the club, with the COVID pandemic putting the dampeners on their eagerly anticipated 300th-anniversary celebrations, Morehead has spearheaded efforts to further enhance the reputation of the oldest yacht club in the world. His efforts have earned him the January Cork Person of the Month of the Award, seeing him join the ranks of people from all walks of Cork life who have won the monthly title. ....

At the Cork Harbour club s 300th AGM, Colin Morehead was elected the 42nd Admiral of the Royal Cork Yacht Club. Unfortunately, due to COVID-19, many of the Club’s planned 300 birthday celebrations had to be cancelled last year. Morehead has been part of the Royal Cork all of his life, following in the footsteps of generations of his family before him. Upon receiving the title of Admiral, Colin outlined his wish to develop a five-year plan for the club, along with the development of a new sustainability plan for the club which underpins all of the club’s activities.
