Lodging Council rejects funding resolution - Sedona Red Rock News

During its April 13 monthly meeting, members of the Sedona Lodging Council discussed a resolution
requesting that the Sedona Chamber of Commerce seek
no advertising or marketing funds from the Sedona City
Council for Fiscal Year 2021-2022. The goodwill gesture

with opposition by many on the Lodging Council and failed

It is officially April, which means Earth Day is right around the corner. Rather than just celebrate Earth Day on April 22, the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau launched an Earth Month initiative to engage residents and visitors in the drive to sustainability.
“Our goal is to highlight the progress of our partners dedicated to fulfilling the Sedona Sustainable Tourism Plan throughout April, while promoting initiatives we hope residents and visitors alike will undertake so we can all continue our sustainability journey together,” Sedona Chamber of Commerce President and CEO Candace Carr Strauss said. ....

New Sedona Chamber of Commerce president readies for challenges

Candace Carr Strauss has already met dozens of new people, sat down with local officials, gone on a few hikes and experienced first-hand the woes of the local housing market.
And that was just her first two weeks on the job.
“Things are going really well,” the new president and CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce said last week. “I had heard about the ‘Sedona way’ of people being very friendly and welcoming and it’s true. I’ve had a whole lot of folks reach out to me, even before I had gotten here. It continued upon my arrival and I’m meeting new people every day.” ....

After Sedona City Council approved a transfer of $50,000 from the Sedona Chamber of Commerce to the Sedona Trail Keepers program, leaders of several organizations gathering for a check presntation ceremony at the Girdner Trailhead on Thursday, Feb. 25. Attendees included Kevin Adams, president of the Sedona Red Rock Trail
Fund, Candace Carr Strauss, president and CEO of the Sedona Chamber of Commerce, Sedona Mayor Sandy Moriarty, and Amy Tinderholt, district ranger for the Red
Rock Ranger District in Coconino National Forest. Attendees pose with a $100,000 check presented to the Sedona Red Rock Trail Fund by The Sedona Trail Keepers, a consortium of Sedona area businesses and the Sedona Chamber of Commerce & Tourism Bureau. The presentation marks the conclusion of a successful five-year drive that has seen the Trail Keepers contribute $370,000 to support the SRRTF partnership with the U.S. Forest Service to maintain hundreds of miles ....
