Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has confirmed pricing for the XC90 for the 2021 model year. The large three-row SUV comes with several small equipment upgrades for slight increase in cost.
The range now starts at
RM352,472 for the base T5 Momentum and rises to
RM393,743 for the top-spec T8 Inscription Plus plug-in hybrid, which now ditches the Twin Engine branding in favour of Recharge branding – just like the recently-introduced XC40 Recharge T5. These prices represent a hike of RM1,662 and RM2,593 respectively over the previous 2019 model.
As previously reported, the mid-range Inscription model has been dropped from the lineup. The listed figures include the sales and services tax (SST) exemption valid until June 30, after which the prices will jump to RM373,888 for the T5 Momentum and RM413,888 for the Recharge T8 Inscription Plus. Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) today launched the Volvo XC40 Recharge T5 R-Design, which is the plug-in hybrid variant of the brand’s compact SUV. It joins the existing XC40 T5 AWD R-Design that arrived much earlier as well as other Volvo PHEVs (XC60, XC90, S60 and S90), meaning the entire local line-up is now electrified.

Volvo Malaysia now offers a 5-year/unlimited-mileage factory warranty with all models registered from Jan 1

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has revised its factory warranty programme to a five-year/unlimited-mileage period for all (privately owned) Volvo models registered from January 1, 2021 onwards.
This is an improvement over the previous five-year/120,000-km warranty period, which is actually divided into two parts: a standard three-year/100,000-km factory warranty combined with a two-year/20,000-km extended warranty programme provided by an external insurance partner.
“This new offering is part of our dedication to quality, particularly in relation to our vehicles and customer relationship. At Volvo Car Malaysia, every decision we make is designed around the customer’s needs and more so to solidify their trust in Volvo,” said Nalin Jain, managing director of VCM. ....

Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) has released its sales figures for 2020, which is a new record since the establishment of the company. Despite the Covid-19 pandemic, the brand sold 1,950 cars last year, beating the previous record of 1,883 in 2019. VCM sold 1,384 units in 2018, so it’s a big jump in a short time.
For obvious reasons, the first half of 2020 wasn’t very positive for Volvo, which recorded a 56.1% decrease in sales. However, the brand bounced back strongly the second half, with July being one of the best months ever for VCM. The 1,950 units total is a 3.6% increase from 2019. ....
