Syracuse linebacker Tyrell Richards announced he’s entering the transfer portal on Monday via Twitter. Richards played for three years at SU after redshirting in 2017. He recorded 54 total tackles over his 31-game career, making a career-high 24 in the 2020 season. In addition to his time at linebacker, Richards played defensive end and was also a key member of the Orange’s special teams unit. In 2019, Richards won SU’s Joe Szombathy Award as the team’s best special teams player. ....

Texas offensive lineman Willie Tyler has transferred to Syracuse, he announced on his Twitter on Thursday. Tyler, a 6-foot-7, 335-pound lineman, did not play in his two years with the Longhorns. He played a season at Iowa Western Community College before moving to Texas prior to the 2019 season. Tyler redshirted that season and opted out of the 2020 season due to COVID-19.
Tyler joins transfer Jakob Bradford on SU’s offensive line, which struggled last season and ranked 113 out of 127 FBS teams, according to Pro Football Focus. Tyler will play under O-line coach Mike Schmidt, who recently moved to Syracuse after eight years at San Diego State. ....

Syracuse football added a big piece to its offensive line for next season as Texas transfer Willie Tyler announced his commitment. He has three years of eligibility remaining. Tyler is the third transfer Syracuse has added this offseason, joining defensive back Jason Simmons and quarterback Garrett Shrader. Tyler is coming to Syracuse as an offensive tackle but is versatile enough to play guard as well. He picked the Orange over Eastern Michigan, Arkansas State, New Mexico, BYU and Louisiana-Monroe.
Tyler is listed at 6-7, 335 pounds. He played tackle at the junior college level but was considered a guard for the Longhorns. ....

Syracuse wide receiver Ed Hendrix is not taking classes at SU for this spring semester, a Syracuse Athletics spokesperson confirmed to Stephen Bailey of 247 Sports. Bailey said that Hendrix isn’t currently in the transfer portal. Hendrix is not listed in the student directory, either.
Hendrix was a top-five prospect in the District of Columbia in the Class of 2018. He redshirted the 2018 season after injuring his knee in preseason camp, and he missed the entirety of the following season while recovering from another knee injury in spring practice. Hendrix appeared in five games in his redshirt sophomore season in 2020, mostly as a reserve, but started against No. 1 Clemson on Oct. 24, recording three catches for 24 yards. ....
