Dr Wee: Negligence the most likely cause of LRT mishap


KUALA LUMPUR: Negligence is the likely cause behind the train collision in the tunnel between the KLCC and Kampung Baru LRT stations, says Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.
We will investigate all possibilities and angles. We have our SOP, and those involved in the investigations are not those who are involved in the operations of the LRT because we have to be fair to all parties, he said.
He also said that no stone would be left unturned in the investigations.

AUTHORITIES are looking into a pork dish commonly called humba as the cause of the alleged food poisoning in one of the events for the 500 Years of Celebration held yesterday, May 23, 2021, at the IEC Convention Center, Cebu City.
Ramil Ayuman, officer-in-charge of the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, said that 26 performers experienced what looked like food poisoning.
The performers were immediately brought to the hospital.
Ayuman said the food packs, which were distributed during the event, contained rice and humba packed in plastic. ....

GUWAHATI: People with comorbidities account for 60-70% of fatalities in Assam in the second wave, bringing to the fore their vulnerability once again.
The state is witnessing 70 Covid deaths on an average daily for quite some time now.
“If we count the cases where viral infection alone is the cause of death, the actual number of Covid deaths will be about 30% of the death numbers that is being reported at present,” chairman of the state Covid death audit board Dr Anup Kumar Barman told TOI on Monday.
He added that a large number of patients suffering from diabetes, kidney failure and cancer, along with other comorbid conditions, have died after they got infected by the virus. Out of the total Covid deaths in the state, their number is between 60-70%, Barman said. ....
