Nine people were wounded on Thursday evening (US time) in Rhode Island s capital in what police there believe to be the largest shooting in city history.
Of the nine, three had serious injuries and were maybe critical, Providence Police Chief Colonel Hugh T Clements told reporters at the scene.
He said multiple guns were used and it involved an ongoing feud involving two groups known to authorities.
He said the shooting began with gunfire emanating from a vehicle, targeting a home. A person or people inside the home then returned fire. He described the participants as young men. ....

Four youths were wounded in the Landhi area on Wednesday after robbers opened fire on them.
The incident occurred in Landhi No 6. Police said some armed robbers arrived near the Karbala Maidan area in Landhi to rob citizens; however, some people surrounded them and tried to catch them. In order to avoid being caught, police said, the robbers opened fire on the people, injuring four of them. They later managed to flee.
Police and rescuers reached the crime scene and transported the wounded persons to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre where they were identified as Shahzaib, 18, Sami, 22, Fahad, 18, and Azeem, 18. Police have registered a case. ....

RAWALPINDI: A Pakistan Army soldier was injured when terrorists inside Afghanistan shot across the international border on a military post in Bajaur, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement on Saturday.
“Terrorists from inside Afghanistan opened fire across international border on a military post in Bajaur District. Own troops responded promptly. During exchange of fire a soldier got injured,” the ISPR said.
It added: “Pakistan has consistently been requesting Afghanistan to ensure effective border management. Pakistan strongly condemns the use of Afghan soil by terrorists for activities against Pakistan.” ....
