'Celebration of equestrian sport' planned as new host found for 2021 eventing championships

Britain’s national eventing championships will run at Burgham International Horse Trials (28 July- 1 August), in a “real celebration of equestrian sport at all levels”.
Following the cancellation of the Festival of British Eventing at Gatcombe, and a tender process, the Northumberland venue will run the British Open, the intermediate, novice and novice restricted championships, alongside the established CCI4 -S, CCI3 -S and CCI2 -S international classes, and national classes.
Burgham event director Martyn Johnson said: “It’s very exciting for the north, which sometimes misses out on big sporting events, that the British Eventing [BE] fixtures panel has trusted us with running these historic and important championships. ....

Hopes are high for new British five-star to replace Burghley Horse Trials

Britain may yet host a CCI5 event this year, as all involved in the sport try to find an alternative venue.
Following last week’s news that the Land Rover Burghley Horse Trials would not run, and as Badminton Horse Trials had already been cancelled,British Eventing (BE) has announced that “all other options” are being considered in the attempt to run a British five-star this year.
H&H said there is ongoing collaboration and engagement between all key stakeholders in the sport.
“It was pretty obvious, pretty soon after the cancellation, that there was a will for a CCI5 in Britain in 2021,” he said. “There are complications with the Olympics and the Europeans reducing the number of horses but there’s still a strong appetite for it.” ....
