KOTA KINABALU: Many parts of the city centre here have been placed under the enhanced movement control order (MCO) with police cordoning off areas earlier than the scheduled start date owing to rising Covid-19 cases and to keep residents contained.
The latest are the Sinsuran and Segama areas in downtown Kota Kinabalu, said to house some water villagers from nearby Gaya Island who managed to flee when the island was declared an enhanced MCO zone earlier this month.
Though authorities are not saying that the surge in Covid-19 cases is caused by the movement of water villagers from Pulau Gaya, they are also not denying that this could be one of the causes. ....

Preparing waste collected to get transported to mainland.
IT REMINDED me a shell-shock sight of bales of compressed plastic bottles in 2019! My first reaction was: “Waa, that looks familiar upon receipt last Monday of a press release entitled: ‘Reef Check Malaysia sends another 1,500kg of trash off Mantanani; calls for more government help’.”
This mountain of trash that had thrashed Mantanani is nothing new to me anymore.
On August 2019, I followed Swiss-based Race for Water crew to the island in in a maiden trip.
That was the shock cited earlier – just bales and bales of crushed plastic bottles packed under a village house near Reef Check’s Recycling Centre. ....

I AM compelled to express my heartiest congratulations and high respect to Sabah’s government and opposition political leaders in exhibiting the rarest unity of support for Hajiji’s move to relax the Covid-19 SOP in Sabah on 28 June 2021. It has never happened since Malaysia Day.
Never would I have dreamed that this historical unique political unity can happen in my life time.
Hopefully, this unity for Sabah, one for all, all for one will be extended to our fight for equity in economic development.
THERE IS HOPE FOR SABAH in our fight to recover from Covid-19 and beyond. ....

Shrug off the self-imposed defeatism | Daily Express Online - Sabah's Leading News Portal

“THE expression God helps those who help themselves is an ancient proverb. It stresses how important it is to be able to come to your own aid and take initiative in life, and not to just wait for and rely on divine intervention, or on the help of others for that matter.
It also conveys that divine intervention is most likely to come to those who take action on their own behalf and not to those who sit back and wait for heavenly help to arrive.”

Time for Sabah should consider this quotation seriously as we have, more often than not, blame others or refusing to take responsibility for our poverty and economic backwardness. Sabahans must take charge assertively and create our own destiny. For sure, no body will create wealth for us nor will they look after our interest. Any Sabahan expects otherwise is being unsophisticated and naive ....

Covid-19: Sabah will buy own vaccines if insufficient supply for all, says Hajiji

Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor. -filepic
KOTA KINABALU: Sabah will purchase its own doses of the Covid-19 vaccine if there is insufficient supply for all, says Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor.
He said this was to ensure that all residents get their vaccination and to ensure that there is herd immunity against the virus.
He said this in urging everyone to register for their vaccination via the MySejahtera app as soon as possible after visiting fire victims placed at the Sembulan temporary shelter near here on Wednesday (March 17).
Hajiji said the Federal Government will do its best to ensure that almost everyone would get their vaccination but in the event that the supply is not enough, the state government will also do its part to ensure people get their immunisation. ....
