Candidates vying to become Holyhead’s newest councillor have called for a review of plans for a £100m holiday village on the outskirts of the town. Despite the principle of building on parts of the site being established eight years ago following approval of a contentious planning application, recent months have seen a marked resurgence of a long running campaign to “save” a popular nature reserve. Land and Lakes, which has purchased the Penrhos site once owned by Anglesey Aluminium, says it is committed to keeping the coastal path open and accessible to the public. ....
Charities in and around the Oswestry area recently benefited from donations made by Cae Glas Freemasons Lodge in Oswestry. Andy Morgan WM of Cae Glas Lodge, Sian Tasker Trustee of Music MOB, Mike Coppock, Chairman and Trustee of Music MOB, David Bramwell Treasurer Cae Glas Lodge £500 was donated to Oswestry and Borderlands Foodbank, £500 to the Derwen College Duke of Edinburgh Award Programme and £250 to Music MOB – Music Matters in Oswestry and the Borderlands. The donation to the food bank was increased to £750 through anonymous donations from members of the Lodge. The donation to Music MOB was further topped up with additional match funding from the Masonic Province of Shropshire, allowing a £500 cheque to be presented. ....
Cae Glas, Welshpool. A HOUSING development in Welshpool is nearing completion, and will provide accommodation for 10 people, enabling them to live independently, closer to their home communities. Following a procurement exercise, Castell Care and Support, part of the Wales & West Housing Group, were successful in entering a five year contract for the provision of support. The project will lead to approximately 30 new jobs in the town supporting people in their own homes. She said: This is a great opportunity to provide accommodation which allows people needing extra support to live with independence and dignity. ....
