July 30 through August 15
Every month in Hawai‘i seems to be Pride Month with so many beautiful rainbows stretching across our blue skies. But supporting Hawai‘i’s diverse LGBTQ community takes more than admiring our colorful rainbows. Americas only see a glancing blow; U.S. West Coast gets playful surf early next week
Way below the equator, deep down in the Southern Ocean, a powerful storm that’s already delivered XL swell to Tasmania is reaching peak-strength to the east of New Zealand. From there, like a buckshot blast from the Southwest Pacific, this storm will scatter large and long-lasting swell around the basin the first few days of the month giving Hawaii its largest surf of the season so far on the 5th before granting the U.S. West Coast some fun waves the following week. ....

More, slightly bigger swell for Hawaii mid-late next week
The Southern Hemisphere’s been pumping out swells for a few months now (Spring Fling, La Bomba, Margaret River, numerous swells for East Australia, etc.). But the real season-opening signal comes from the South Pacific, more specifically when Teahupo’o starts ringing bells. The ringing will only get louder this weekend as Tahiti goes Solid Red and Gold. For those not familiar with Surfline’s color scale, that basically means Good-to-Epic waves which basically means big, blue barrels are on the way. ....
