NLCB and Eye on Dependency offer a solution “Gambling is supposed to be fun,” said Eye on Dependency co-founder Garth St Clair, “but when it becomes a compulsive problem you need help.” The National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) agreed with St Clair’s premise. And, today, the two entities officially joined forces with the virtual launch of the NLCB’s Responsible Gaming initiative, which offers support to the punters who lose their heads. (FILE PHOTO) THE National Lotteries Control Board (NLCB) is dealing with the challenges of gambling addiction and illegal gambling. NLCB officials updated members of the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) on these and other matters during a virtual meeting on Wednesday. In response to a question from Foreign and Caricom Affairs Minister Dr Amery Browne, NLCB director Camille Forde said, I can assure you that the NLCB is concerned about gambling addiction. She added the NLCB is seeking to develop a responsible gaming programme. Forde promised to provide details of the programme to the PAC. ....

PAC blasts NLCB inability to present audited accounts by Gail Alexander The National Lotteries Control Board’s inability to present audited accounts for 2013/2017 was severely criticised by Public Accounts Committee chairman Dave Tancoo yesterday - but NLCB made it clear the inability was due to issues over 2012-2013 when a lot of information couldn’t be seen. UNC MP Tancoo heads the parliamentary PAC which also comprises PNM, UNC and Independent members. ....
