Nueva Delhi, 11 jul (Prensa Latina) Alpinistas de todo el mundo viajan a Nepal en la primavera de cada año con la esperanza de conquistar el Monte Everest, pero antes de arribar a Katmandú, la capital del pequeño país que comparte con China el famoso pico del Himalaya, ya cientos de yaks, guías y porteadores sherpas se encuentran en el campamento base para preparar la nueva temporada de escalada. Conocidos por su fuerza física en las grandes alturas del bien apodado techo del mundo , los miembros de este grupo étnico, también llamados sharwa, son fundamentales en las expediciones de ascenso a la mole de ocho mil 848,86 metros sobre el nivel del mar.

Kathmandu: Former Hong Kong schoolteacher Tsang Yin-hung said she always believed in aiming high after setting a new record for the fastest ascent of Mount Everest by a woman.
Tsang scaled the 8,848.86m-high mountain in 25 hours and 50 minutes, a Nepal government officer who recorded her time said on Thursday.
The 44-year-old reached the summit of the world’s highest peak on May 23 and arrived back in Kathmandu on Sunday.
