LONDON: The UK s parliamentary watchdog is investigating the funding of UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson s holiday to the Caribbean island of Mustique in 2019 which was declared as a benefit in kind last year, it emerged on Monday.
Kathryn Stone, the Parliamentary Commissioner for Standards who oversees the Code of Conduct for members of Parliament, is listed as looking into the trip he took with fiancee Carrie Symonds following his general election win in December 2019. ....

A Conservative MP is set to be paid £125 an hour by a timber company that he lobbied government ministers and Britain’s high commissioner in Ghana to help, sparking calls from transparency campaigners for an investigation.
Andrew Bridgen, a leading member of the European Research Group of pro-Brexit MPs, is to receive £12,000 a year for working just eight hours a month for Mere Plantations, a company that owns a reported £500million worth of teak forest in Ghana.
The MP has been declared as a director of the company since May, according to Parliament’s Register of Members’ Financial Interests. ....

CHANGES made to the standing orders of Trowbridge Town Council following a row about photographing, filming and editing of council meetings could result in a new code of conduct.
The change follows incidents in which council meetings have been uploaded to social media and websites in a way which could be misinterpreted.
Council leader, Stewart Palmen, said at the last full town council meeting he also intends to review the council’s code of conduct following recent breaches by some councillors.
At the November 17 full council meeting, councillors voted 15-4 with one abstention to change the standing orders. ....
