Health regulations for agricultural enterprises employing seasonal workers are now more straightforward than one year ago.

Now, berry growers in the area say they are satisfied with the detailed instructions provided by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry on how to proceed when seasonal workers arrive.
Over the past few weeks, about 150 Ukrainian seasonal workers have arrived in Finland on weekly flights. Further flights will be added as needed. The total number of Ukrainian workers expected to take up jobs on Finnish farms this summer is the same as a year ago, about 6,000. ....

Earnings-related unemployment allowances hit 20-year high

The number of people receiving earnings-related unemployment allowances rose by 86 percent last year compared to the year before, reaching its highest level in 20 years, the Federation of Unemployment Funds in Finland (TYJ) said on Wednesday.
Unemployment funds paid out the allowance to 456,000 unemployed or furloughed workers, representing about eight percent of the population.
The monthly number of applications rose as much as eight-fold compared to previous years. ....

Unions, employers want more funding for workplace vaccination programmes

Workers and employers organisations have joined forces to demand changes to the government s coronavirus vaccination policies.
Over the Christmas period the Ministry for Social Affairs and Health published a paper outlining policies surrounding the vaccine rollout, but the labour market organisations now say there are significant practical problems with the proposal.
The blue collar trade union confederation SAK, its white collar equivalent STTK, the confederation for professional unions Akava and the Confederation of Finnish Industries EK all want to see costs associated with vaccines delivered by occupational health services reimbursed in full by the taxpayer.
In the current proposal 60 percent of costs will be reimbursed. Most people working in Finland have access to occupational health services from their employer, either through in-house staff or a private contractor. ....
