An elderly motorist made himself “the meat in the sandwich” between his car and a bus when he walked up the side of the coach as it was pulling out of its stop, a court has been told.
Stagecoach bus driver Nigel Dunn, 53, from Muirton Place, Boat of Garten, suggested Les Crichton needed to shoulder responsibility for the accident in which he was injured.
He was giving evidence on the fourth day of his jury trial at Inverness Sheriff Court. ....

A damning report revealed officers had failed to record 80,000 crimes in a single year
The Deputy Mayor of Greater Manchester for Policing, Crime, Criminal Justice and Fire, Bev Hughes, and the Chair of the Police, Crime and Fire Panel, Councillor Nigel Murphy, have met with Greater Manchester’s policing and crime leads, local authority scrutiny chairs and other elected members to discuss the recent HMICFRS inspection regarding Greater Manchester Police’s services to victims.

The Greater Manchester Crime Support Line will provide support to victims of crime who may have concerns about how their crime has been recorded by Greater Manchester Police (GMP) or would like support to help them cope and recover
A new helpline offering support services to victims of crime in Greater Manchester has been launched today (Monday).

The Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police has announced he’s standing down from the role after the force was placed into special measures.
Ian Hopkins has been leading the force for the past 13-years but a damning report by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Constabulary on Thursday placed them in special measures after it was revealed officers had failed to record 80,000 crimes in a single year.
As a result of the report, Ian Hopkins has taken the decision to stand down with immediate effect.
In a statement released on Friday, Mr Hopkins said: “These are challenging times for Greater Manchester Police. The force has a long-term strategic plan to address the issues raised by the HMIC and I believe this plan should be led by a Chief Constable who can oversee it from start to finish. ....
