HOW libraries can be used to benefit communities across Conwy over the next five years has gone up for discussion. Conwy County Borough Council has launched a consultation over its Library and Information 2021-2026, which sets out its approach to improving library services. Library users, partner organisations and interested parties are encouraged to get involved and share their views by taking part in the consultation. The draft strategy includes plans for a community hub in the west end of Abergele, relocating Colwyn Bay Library and providing outreach services in rural communities. Over recent years, it has been a council priority to develop libraries into community hubs that provide a wide range of services and activities, including Conwy Culture Centre, more varied library opening hours, mobile library routes and the establishment of five community libraries. ....
A WHISKY producer is set to open a new distillery and visitor centre in Llandudno town centre as part of a £5million development. Penderyn Distillery will launch its second distillery at the 19th century Old Board School on Lloyd Street. The grade II listed building was formerly Conwy Council Archive, which moved to the Conwy Culture Centre in 2019. A Faraday still has been installed to produce the first peated barley single malt whisky in Wales upon the launch on Monday, May 17, while the visitor centre will open on June 1. Neil Quigley, director of operations for Penderyn, said: Since its inception three years ago, this has been a hugely exciting and challenging project. I m pleased to have kept this remarkable renovation on time and on track. ....
