The famous Donkey’s Ears before and after the quake. The violent tremor broke one of the iconic ‘ears’!
THERE is such a thing called “sad truth”. The “sad truth” is, people forget about natural disasters really quickly, according to a study done by Professor David Konisky of the University of Indiana, USA.
One moment people are completely traumatised by extreme weather like severe storms and flooding, the next moment its memory fades.

A goat standing amid terrific plastic pollution waste on Gaya Island.
THE game is over for the planet, unless a second industrial revolution happens which can mimic the living system where one species’ waste is another species’ food.
Those are words from Europe – birthplace of the first Industrial Revolution.
They see doom, if the flow of pernicious industrial wastes continue to leak out the economic system big time into the living systems.
Just google the subject, there is no lack of insightful European scientists, professors, industrialists and entrepreneurs who are howling for good riddance to the ruinous waste-bound linear economy and replace it with a waste-free circular economy.    ....

YES, plastic waste is a global scourge, a silent killer of oceans set to outnumber fish by 2050!
But in late August 2019, an unusual Geneva-hailed Swiss lady Camille Rollin who came to Kota Kinabalu aboard Race for Water’s all renewable energy power 80-tonne boat on a round-the-world voyage.
While here, she kept telling locals yes, true, plastic waste is very destructive once out at sea but on the other hand, because it is derived from petroleum, it has high calorific value which can be transformed into energy-rich synthesised gas (syngas) to produce electricity. ....

New Sabah Times printing press-cum-editorial office.
IT NEVER crossed my mind to write this Special Report in the Daily Express. Last week, Editor-in-Chief, James Sarda, approached me and said: “Can you write something on Sabah Times – since you once worked there for many years?”
But obviously, what triggered this unusual story idea had to be a profoundly sad end of Sabah Times – Sabah’s first English daily closing for good on Dec 31, 2020 – 66 years after it was first founded by the late Tan Sri Yeh Pao Tzu who was also the founder of Daily Express in 1963. ....
