Killarney’s reputation as one of the most desirable getaways in the Southern Downs is set to be bolstered, with the upcoming addition of an exclusive new tourist park.
The application for a 10-site Condamine River park named Booyong Tourist Park was approved by SDRC this week.
The new facility is to be situated on 100ha of agricultural land and located east of national parkland.
Six of the 10 sites look out onto the idyllic views of the Condamine River.
In the application, developer Paul Stumkat said its proximity to stunning local scenery would be a point of difference for the campsite. ....

The farmer who was killed while moving his cattle to safety through rising flood waters has been remembered as the heart and head of the family by his heartbroken wife.
Paul Stephenson, 69, was swept away from a surge of water from the Condamine River while moving his cattle to higher ground on a property at Killarney, on the Southern Downs in Queensland about 8pm Wednesday.
As more than 180mm of rain fell in just an hour, Mr Stephenson struggled during the vicious weather but unfortunately did not survive. ....

A man has died after he was swept away by flash flooding in the Southern Downs last night.
Initial police investigations suggest the 69-year-old Killarney man was moving cattle to higher ground when he and his car were consumed by rapidly rising water on Condamine River Road.
A major flood watch was issued for Killarney on Wednesday night, as an intense storm touched down on the region.
Residents in region reported up to 180mm falling within an hour.
A report will be prepared for the Coroner.

A farmer has been killed in flooding in Queensland after a super storm battered swathes of the country s east coast.
The 69-year-old was moving cattle to higher ground on a property at Killarney, on the Southern Downs, when the flooding of the Condamine River swept him away at about 8pm Wednesday.
Emergency services found the man s body inside his car about 100 metres downstream at 12.20am.
Police officers will prepare a report for the coroner.
Southern Downs Mayor Vic Pennisi said it was a tragedy.
It s sad that we ve been in drought for so long and we get some rain and this happens, he said. ....
