The number of human trafficking offences recorded by Essex Police since 2015 have been revealed. A Freedom of Information (FOI) request, published by the force, shows data for each year - starting from 2015 to the present day. According to charity Unseen UK, human trafficking can be defined as the movement of people by means such as force, fraud, coercion or deception, with the aim of exploiting them. It is a form of modern slavery. However this does not always involve international transportation. Trafficking in the UK can include commercial, sexual and bonded labour. A spokesman from the charity said: Trafficked people have little choice in what happens to them and often suffer abuse due to violence and threats made against them or their families. ....
Two men and two women were sentenced yesterday after police discovered a prostitution ring in Bristol. Police uncovered the operation after stopping a car last year, assuming the driver had no insurance- the officer became suspicious when he noticed a young woman in the back in just nightwear. Marin Grigore, 29, of Tudor Road, Bristol, trafficked a woman from abroad and along with his wife and brother-in-law, arranged for women to sell sexual services from their rented homes in Easton, Bristol as well as other locations across the South West. Police uncovered the prostitution ring after a roads policing officer stopped Grigore and his brother-in-law, Alexandru Dita, on Broad Weir, Bristol, in the early hours of July 28 last year, suspecting they were driving without insurance. ....
