Focus on real problems
Observing Gov. Ron DeSantis and the Republicans in the Florida Legislature studying recent events and then devising legislative remedies designed to eliminate outcomes they don’t like is very educational.
For example, take the most recent election outcome and recent protests against systemic discrimination. Despite an outcome in Florida that went largely in favor of the GOP, they are trying their very best to limit voter participation even more in Florida.
DeSantis anti-protest proposals are tailored to discouraging the Black Lives Matter protests. Despite the fact that he is a lawyer, his proposals all blatantly encroach upon our First Amendment rights to free speech and assembly and are way over-broad in their reach.

ABWA Lehigh chapter to hold hybrid meeting Thursday
By MEGHAN BRADBURY - | Feb 10, 2021
After a year of not holding meetings due to the pandemic, the ABWA Lehigh Acres chapter will host its first hybrid meeting this week.
On Thursday, Feb. 11, the monthly chapter meeting will begin with networking and registration at 6 p.m. followed by the meeting at 6:30 p.m. at El Tarasco Mexican Restaurant, 1320 Business Way, Lehigh Acres.
“I’m excited about our hybrid meetings because February of 2020 was our last in-person meeting. We haven’t met in person for a meeting since then,” ABWA Lehigh Acres Chapter President Toby Ferrel said.
Fifteen majestic statues, all six-foot-tall milky white fiberglass horses, were the center of attention on Thursday as dozens of people scurried around a large warehouse in Ocala with excitement that the fourth Horse Fever event in 20 years was finally kicking off.
These unfinished naked horses, as event organizers called them, will become masterpieces and placed on display during most of March for the community to enjoy. Then, the owners will designate where they will go to pasture.
Many mask-wearing dignitaries, artists and patrons walked around a small section of Transformco s mammoth warehouse, once Ocala s Kmart Distribution Center, to chat about Horse Fever 20/20.
