CADILLAC â A 45-year-old Cadillac man faced several charges in Wexford County 84th District Court after he led police on an early morning police pursuit that ended in a crash Monday. Charles Michael Fassio was charged with a fourth-degree police officer fleeing, operating a motor vehicle while license suspended, revoked or denied second or subsequent offense, for his connection with an incident on Aug. 2 in Cadillac. A habitual offender third offense notice was added to the charges and enhances the penalty to twice the maximum sentence. If convicted, Fassio faces up to two years in prison and/or $1,000 in fines on the fleeing police offense. ....
CADILLAC â An Illinois man was arrested on Saturday after fleeing from a car crash in Wexford County. According to a Michigan State Police press release, at approximately 7:30 p.m. troopers from the Cadillac Post along with deputies from the Wexford County Sheriffâs Office responded to a two-vehicle crash on M-115 at the intersection of Mackinaw Trail in Clam Lake Township. The investigation resulted in the arrest of a 44-year-old Westmont, Illinois man for operating while intoxicated. The initial investigation revealed the at-fault driver from Illinois was in a 2020 GMC Sierra with a 53-year- old man from LeRoy. They were traveling southbound on Mackinaw Trail at the intersection of M-115 when he failed to yield the right of way of a Ford F250 traveling east on M-115. ....
CADILLAC — Fire investigators are uncertain what caused a fire that destroyed a pole barn, along with about $100,000 worth of tools and other items Wednesday in Haring Township. ....
CADILLAC â One person was taken to the hospital Monday and two pets were saved during a fire at a Bond Street residence in Cadillac. The Cadillac City Fire Department was dispatched at 9:02 a.m. to the fire located at Bond Street home in Cadillac, according to a press release from Lt. Mike Fisk. Firefighters arrived on the scene at 9:06 a.m. to find the only occupant of the residence had exited the home. The fire quickly was contained and extinguished. Fisk said fire crews were able to rescue a family dog and a pet turtle from the residence. After the fire was out, fire crews remained on the scene performing salvage and overhaul operations until shortly before noon Monday. The fire caused significant damage in one room but was limited throughout the remainder of the home, according to the release. ....
