Two months after the Centre refused to keep a provision for Rural Development Fund (RDF) in the Cash Credit Limit extended for the current paddy procurement season, the state is still awaiting the amount even after Chief Minister Amarinder Singh took it up with the Union government.
If the Centre does not accede to the state’s demand by December 31, the CCL for paddy will lapse and the state would lose Rs 1,250 crore due to the state on account of RDF on paddy, Punjab Food Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu told The Indian Express on Wednesday.

Centre to allot tenders for setting up silos for 21 lakh MT in Punjab

Amid the farmers protests against Centre’s farm laws, the Union government has decided to set up silos with a capacity for storage of 21 lakh metric tonnes of foodgrains in Punjab.
Harsimrat accused Kejriwal of having “danced to the tune of Centre and not supporting the farmers”.
On Friday, in a fresh statement, she hit out at AAP leader and said that he had notified one of the three farm laws on November 23, and was engaging in theatrics by tearing off the copies in Delhi Vidhan Sabha on Thursday.
Amarinder, on Friday, also accused both SAD and AAP of pawning off the state’s interests to the BJP. “AAP and SAD MLAs never say what they mean, and vice versa,” said the Chief Minister in an informal interaction with mediapersons in Mohali after the launch of second phase of Punjab Smart Connect Scheme.
