Sunday, 02 May 2021 - 12:13 Four suspects have been arrested by the CID for illegally obtaining Rs. 43 mn from an account of a leading Steel Manufacturer by producing forged cheques. The CID arrested four members of an organized crime gang who had obtained Rs. 43 million by presenting forged checks from an account maintained in a private bank owned by a well known steel factory. It has been revealed that the suspects had committed this illegal transaction on the 12th of April just before the New Year. They have targeted the funds in an account belonging to this steel factory. Checks have been prepared similar to the checks of the relevant company. The police stated that the fraud had been committed by a group of people who were dressed similar to the employees and pretending to be from the company. ....
California Stimulus Check Update: When Will It Come For Direct Deposits, Paper Checks? On 4/30/21 at 4:53 AM EDT California stimulus payments for those who filed their taxes between March 2 and April 23 will be received beginning after May 1, the California Franchise Tax Board (FTB) advises. Recipients should allow up to two weeks after their tax returns have been processed for direct deposit stimulus payments to arrive and up to four to six weeks for paper checks, the FTB says. Those who filed their taxes after April 23 should allow up to 45 days after their tax return has been processed for direct deposit payments and up to 60 days for paper checks. ....

Photo / Supplied Bay of Plenty Times TECT trustees have agreed to go ahead with a structural change that will see the trust wound up within 30 years - which will also spell the eventual end of TECT cheques. The decision followed Trustpower s announcement in January that it was undertaking a strategic review of its retail business, including a possible sale. It also follows a month-long consultation period with its Tauranga Energy Consumer Trust beneficiaries. People who were customers of Trustpower as of January 28 are expected to continue to receive a rebate from TECT for the next 30 years, provided the funds are there. ....

Noida: Strict checking for papers by police led to long queues of vehicles at the Noida-Delhi borders in Chilla and Kalindi Kunj on Friday evening. Now that the UP government has revised curfew timings to 8pm-7am, police have been ensuring that everybody, except those involved in essential services, are back home before the restrictions on movement are imposed. The traffic to Delhi from Noida had, however, thinned by early evening because most people were aware of Delhi government’s decision to impose weekend lockdown, starting Friday night. As barricades were placed a few metres ahead of the Noida entry gate, traffic moved at snail’s pace in a single lane.
