Amid bird flu outbreak, Bihar asks people to eat chicken, eggs

Patna: The Bihar state government has advised residents to eat chicken and eggs saying they are safe even at the time of bird flu or avian influenza outbreaks reported from several Indian states. Through formal advertisements in several local newspapers, the state government said the Indian method of cooking leaves little scope for the viruses to survive. It also said bird flu doesn’t infect humans if the poultry products are consumed after cooking properly. “The Indian method of cooking normally ensures temperature above 70 degree Celsius which kills the bird flu viruses. However, eating of raw or half-cooked poultry products should be avoided,” says an advertisement issued by the Animal and Fisheries Resources Department, Government of Bihar.

Bird Flu: Delhi HC adjourns hearing on Ghazipur Murga Mandi issue ANI | Updated: Jan 19, 2021 15:24 IST New Delhi [India], January 19 (ANI): Amid bird flu outbreak, the Delhi High Court on Tuesday adjourned the hearing to March 8, on an application sought to seek direction to ensure that no birds are slaughtered in and around the Ghazipur Murga Mandi in Delhi. The bench of Justice DN Patel and Justice Jyoti Singh on Tuesday adjourned the hearing on the plea with the main matter, which is scheduled for hearing on March 8, 2021. Senior Advocate Raj Panjwani appeared for Petitioner earlier and stated that slaughtering of birds in a livestock market without appropriate licenses and in absence of the infrastructure mandated by law makes it a hot spot for the spread of diseases.
