President Moon Jae-in has come under fire for having a dinner with four of his former aides at Cheong Wa Dae, which critics claim was in violation of the nationwide ban on gatherings of five or more people as a measure to contain the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Two days after the Moon administration s latest Cabinet reshuffle, announced April 17, Moon had drinks and dinner with the four former aides to show his appreciation for their work, at his residence within the presidential office compound. The aides were former senior secretary for social policy Yoon Chang-yul, former senior secretary for political affairs Choi Jae-sung, former spokesman Kang Min-seok and former secretary for legal affairs Kim Young-sik.

SEOUL, April 16 (UPI) South Korean President Moon Jae-in will meet face-to-face with U.S. President Joe Biden in Washington, D.C., next month, the White House and South Korea s presidential Blue House confirmed. President Biden looks forward to welcoming President Moon of the Republic of Korea to the White House in the second half of May, White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at a briefing on Thursday.

SEOUL, April 16 (Xinhua) South Korean President Moon Jae-in is scheduled to visit Washington D.C. in the latter half of May for summit talks with U.S. President Joe Biden at the invitation of Biden, the South Korean presidential Blue House said Friday.
Blue House spokesman Kang Min-seok said in a statement that the two sides are still in consultations on a detailed schedule for Moon s visit, which will be made public when fixed.
During the summit, Moon and Biden are expected to make in-depth discussions on the continued development of the South Korea-U.S. alliance and on ways to closely cooperate between South Korea and the United States for the complete denuclearization of and the permanent peace settlement in the Korean Peninsula, the spokesman said. South Korean President Moon Jae-in ordered officials on Wednesday to explore filing an international court injunction against Japan over its decision to release 1.25 million tons of contaminated water from the destroyed Fukushima nuclear power plant into the Pacific Ocean.
“In an internal meeting, Moon ordered his government to ‘proactively consider’ bringing the matter to the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea,” presidential spokesman Kang Min-seok told reporters at a press briefing on April 14.
“The [South Korean] office of the secretary for legal affairs has begun a review of various options, which include a formal request for the tribunal to take a provisional measure first, similar to a ‘court injunction,’ against Japan’s move,” Kang said.
