LAKEWOOD, Ohio Advocating for its Medicare for All position, Single Payer Action Network of Ohio (SPAN Ohio) has scheduled statewide walks for May 22.
This includes a Lakewood event beginning at 10 a.m. at Kauffman Park, which will continue east on Detroit Avenue.
Scheduled to speak is Laura Rodriguez-Carbone, Midwest regional outreach and communications lead for Combat COVID, who also is currently the co-chair of Lakewood’s Anti-Racism Task Force. ....

$50,000 Grant Awarded For Kauffman Park Construction

LAKEWOOD, OH A $50,000 grant will support planned park improvements at Kauffman Park, the city of Lakewood announced Wednesday.
The grant is part of the Community Development Supplemental program. The grant will cover part of the planned improvements scheduled for this year.
Our parks are treasures in this community. We invest in them heavily because they are used heavily. I am grateful that Cuyahoga County understands that and has contributed to this Kauffman Park revitalization project, Mayor Meghan George said.

POLICE NEWS: Employment and bank fraud cases are among new local reports


Several fraud cases were reported to local police recently.
Steven Zacarias, Goshen, reported to Goshen police Thursday he was the victim of a telephone scam.
• A Goshen city employee reported to Goshen police Thursday their identity was stolen and used to open a bank account.
• Cameron Smith, Goshen, reported to Elkhart County police his information was used for employment in Bloomington sometime between March 1 and Wednesday.
• Roger Shipley, Goshen, reported to Elkhart County police a case of fraud that occurred sometime between 9:55 a.m. Monday and 1 a.m. Wednesday.
ARREST
Isreal Juarez Zepeda, 37, 1011 Tipton St., Elkhart, was arrested by Goshen police on charges of leaving the scene of a crash and driving without a license after police responded to a crash at West Pike and North Main streets around 12:05 p.m. Thursday. ....
